Our climate work
Sustainable fishing
Themis Fiskeri is a family-run pelagic shipping company that originated over 400 years ago in Sweden, but has through generations also put down roots in Denmark.
The families live on the small island of Rörö, located in the Swedish archipelago. Our ship S144 Themis is homeported in Skagen, and our office is also located right next to the quay at the harbor in Skagen.
To secure fishing for future generations, we will do our best to work as gently and long-term as possible. Through a comprehensive project, we are in the process of
work concretely and purposefully, based on 5 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. We believe that through action we create transformation and we believe in the future.
2. Zero hunger
Maintaining and taking good care of fish stocks is our most important task, as we need to ensure the availability of nutritious food for many people in the long term. That's why we only work with sustainable stocks. The fish we catch are sold for human consumption around the world, or made into fishmeal and fish oil, which is used to farm other animals.

8. Decent work and economic growth
For us, it's important to be able to offer decent working conditions, even though the conditions in our industry are unique. We therefore work actively with this and maintain a close dialog with employees about their physical and mental well-being. Safety on board is our top priority, and That's why we have many safety procedures that are reviewed frequently. We strive for economic growth, but it should never be at the expense of social conditions. With healthy employees, we have the best foundation for economic growth.
14. Life below water
It's in our best interest to promote clean, healthy gardens because our foundation, and the foundation of generations to come, is built on healthy, lush gardens. The MSC certification that most of our fish have helps ensure a high level of protection for fish stocks, the marine environment and ecosystems. We are committed to picking up all the waste we come across when we are out fishing. This is collected and brought ashore so we can help keep our oceans clean.
9. Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
Innovation and technical development are the basis for developing even better sustainable solutions, which is of great interest to us. Our vessel is developed with the latest technology and our ambition is to set new standards for sustainable fishing. We participate in a number of research and development projects to reduce bycatch and to develop technology that ensures we fish as gently as possible. In the future, we will focus even more on traceability work. This is done actively with full camera surveillance from the time the fish is caught until it is landed at the factories.
